Why I'm asking.
I've been writing the songs on Redwoods for six years. A lot of them took shape during the shutdown, on weekly Zoom writing sessions with friends, when the world felt dark and those calls were the thing that kept me steady. These are songs about staying when the weather turns and carrying each other through the heavy seasons. They're the most honest thing I've made.
I paid for the recording myself and co-produced the record to keep the costs down. That got the songs made, but it left almost nothing for the part most independent artists never get to do: actually telling people the album exists. I've spent years engineering records for other artists, including Grammy-nominated albums for Elevation Worship, Forrest Frank and Brandon Lake. I know what a proper release takes. I could mix and master it myself, but most of my energy this season is going into running my coaching business so I can fund the rest of the album and support my family. I just can't fund this one alone.
So I'm doing this the way I'd rather do it anyway: with you instead of a label. Everything you give here goes into the four things below. No platform takes a cut, you get your name on the wall and in the vinyl notes, plus early listens, and I get to stay in touch with you directly instead of through a fundraising site that forgets you the moment you donate.
